Kadota Fig

The Kadota fig is a classic green-skinned variety prized for its mild sweetness, versatility, and excellent performance in both fresh and processed uses. The fruit is typically medium-sized with smooth, pale green to yellow skin that may develop a light amber hue when fully ripe. Inside, the flesh ranges from amber to light pink and is dense, smooth, and less juicy than many darker fig varieties, giving it a rich, almost creamy texture. The flavor is delicately sweet with subtle honey notes and very low acidity, making it less intense but highly approachable.

Kadota figs are especially valued for canning, drying, and preserves due to their firm structure and ability to hold shape during processing. The tree is a reliable and productive grower, usually producing a main crop in mid to late summer, with little to no breba crop. It performs well in warm climates and is moderately tolerant of different growing conditions. Overall, the Kadota fig is a dependable, multi-purpose variety known for its gentle flavor, attractive light color, and consistent yields.
